Growth-Oriented Therapy focuses on self-awareness, self-acceptance and identifying coping strategies for patients in every day life. That way, they have more choices in their behaviour and a greater sense of power and control.
What can you expect?
During the first few sessions, your therapist will most likely get information on your personality strengths, weaknesses, and how you cope with stress in your life. Sometimes the way we deal with difficulties in life does not serve us. A growth-oriented therapist can help you to choose behaviors and strategies that are current to your present life situation. For example, if as a child you always hid when something scared you, your therapist can help you to understand that that tactic served you as a child, but as an adult, you would get better results from facing and understanding your fears.
